Spock’s Beard

Spock’s Beard was founded in Los Angeles in 1992 by brothers Neal and Alan Morse, quickly building a reputation for ambitious progressive rock songwriting and high-energy live performances. The early years produced landmark releases including The LightBeware of DarknessThe Kindness of StrangersDay for Night, and V, records that helped define modern progressive rock for a new generation.

After Neal Morse departed in 2002, the group entered a new era with evolving lineups, broader sonic textures, and continued touring across the US and Europe. Releases such as OctaneSpock’s Beard, and X reinforced the band’s creative identity, while live records documented the depth of the catalog on stage.

The current lineup continues that legacy with renewed momentum on The Archaeoptimist (Madfish Records, 2025), combining classic Beard complexity with fresh writing and arrangements.
